| Peakcrutcha "Side roll" sheep crutching machine
SIMPLE AND PRACTICAL DESIGN The PEAKCRUTCHA is a "side roll" type sheep handling machine, all steel construction. With its simple, practical design, it consists of an elevated , confined compartment into which each sheep enters at one end, to the other end is attached a "decoy" pen. A cradle to restrain the sheep is located on one side, below the level of the inner floor.
NO BACKING OUT The base of the confined compartment into which the sheep enter is "V" shaped and the separate floor section is hinged at one end. On entering the weight of the sheep depresses the floor which automatically closes a spring loaded gate behind it. This prevents the sheep backing out, it also stops the next sheep entering prematurely.
SIDE ROLL OUT When the operator is ready to crutch the next sheep a foot control is depressed which raises the outlet gate at the side. This allows the operator to simply "roll the sheep " over the raised ledge and into the crutching cradle, very little effort is required.
WEDGE SHAPED The cradle is wedged shape consisting of a sheet metal base and side, the working side has a low pipe rail, this combination provides an effective restraint for the sheep lying inverted. An adjustable head rest is located on the cradle and helps to provide overall comfort for the sheep.
ACCESS Excellent access is available to the head for wigging, a very open pizzle access area is provided and the legs can be spread for easy crutching and stain removal. Its easy to clean up above ewe's udder and two blows can be made above the tail which can extend the full leg length.
RELEASE The cradle base and side are hinged and lock together too hold the sheep. To release the sheep the operator simply bumps a lever with his knee, the cradle unlocks and separates under the weight of the sheep creating a chute, the sheep simply rolls on its feet. The two sections of the cradle then re-lock ready for the next sheep.
WOOL DISPOSAL A container can be places at either end of the cradle to collect the crutchings as they fall from the sheep, this reduces sweeping and cleanup time. Because the sheep are released away from the operator and under the machine, there is no disturbance of the working area, particularly loose wool on the floor.
SET UP The PEAKCRUTCHA can be set up as a single unit or any number of multiples. Each machine has wheels for easy movement around sheds and yards, being very lightweight can be loaded on to a trailer or ute by one person. The standard PEAK non backup loading ramp is recommended for use with the PEAKCRUTCHA. |
