CONSTRUCTION

As with all our tray mounted bins, this twin hopper unit is built within a high tensile square tube (RHS) framework.  The base is designed to sit flat on the truck tray within the side rails.   The unique shape features the top section peaked toward the centre allowing for a lower centre of gravity by preventing filling one side only.

DIMENSIONS & CAPACITY

Overall length is 2.3 metres, the width is also 2.3 metres and the overall height is 2.2 metres.  Capacity is equivalent to approx. 2.5 tonnes of wheat and 3 tonnes of DAP.  The divider wall can be custom fitted at the time of manufacture to suit larger or smaller capacities in each compartment.

FEATURES

A full length, one piece peaked steel lid provides a permanent weather-proof cover which is opened at the rear from the ground with the easy operation of a single lever which can be hooked out of the way when the lid is closed.  When open, the lid rests to one side clear of any filling device, auger, conveyor etc., the filling width opening is 900 mm wide.  Turnbuckles (16 mm) and  chains are provided at each corner of the bin to ensure secure and safe attachment to the truck.  Adjustable jacking points are also provided for raising or lowering the bin for loading.  An external ladder with fold down lower section is provided as well as internal access rungs and handles in each compartment.

DRIVE SYSTEM

A simple drive system allows the use of a relatively low powered engine with reduction gearbox.  The very reliable 6 HP Vanguard motor coupled directly to a hefty American made gearbox does an excellent job.  The motor is mounted on an adjustable lever operated slide at the side of the bin for easy access, the lever disengages the drive should starting under load be required.  Lock on steel pulleys are used throughout which provide long wearing life and are easy to remove when eventually sealed bearings require replacing.

DISCHARGE SYSTEM

The single 150mm auger folds back along the side of the bin, it automatically locks for transport.  For operation the auger is hinged out and locked with an over centre latch and is supported by a steel cable attached to the top of the bin.   A long lever, stowed on the bin, sockets into the base of the upper section of auger allowing a minimum of effort  to swing the auger out.  The bottom section of the auger flight is supported by a bearing bush at the hinge point, the drive automatically couples when the auger is extended.  Telescopic PVC tubes and a flexible coupling attached to the end of the auger enables the operator to direct the seed and fertilizer flow to the required point.

OPERATION

The auger is always left empty so the motor can be started with the belt tension engaged.  With the auger running and the telescopic spout in position for filling, the seed (or fertilizer) rope is pulled & the knot attached to the keyhole shaped hook.  When the required amount has almost discharged release the rope, allow the auger to run for 10-20 seconds, place the spout in the other box of your seeder then pull and hook the second control rope in a similar way.  When this box of your seeder is almost full, release the rope and allow the auger to clean out again and then switch of the ignition on the motor.  Because their will be a slight amount of seed or fertilizer remaining in the auger, fore the next fill use the same compartment, this will reduce the slight amount of mixing to an absolute minimum.  When changing seed varieties clean out the bin and auger thoroughly, if possible run your seed out completely as well.

STORAGE

Optional "A" frame legs can be supplied to facilitate easy and safe removal and storage, preferably under cover.  Thorough cleaning is recommended especially any build up of fertilizer.
